RE: Assigning a virtual ip address to PCMCIA ethernet card



Sorry, I have tried to use eth0:1 but the operation fails with the same
error. 

(question:Why is eth0:0 considered to be invalid?)

ifconfig eth0:0 is not valid. try eth0:1 instead.
