    I think I just hit the enter key when it prompted for password. 

    Note however, that since X runs under ssh-agent on Debian, you don't need
passwordless keys. Just use ssh-add to add the passcode(s) to your ssh-agent
and you can get in passwordless, and they'll be more secure.
