Need help with the proper way to build i2c and lm-sensors modules
I have what I hope is a brain dead user issue trying to build the i2c and
lm-sensor modules on a 2.4.18 debian install.
I installed the 2.4.18-5 kernel source package and soft linked
/usr/src/linux to the top level directory. Next, I unpacked the i2c and
lm-sensors tarballs into the /usr/src/modules
Then I cd into /usr/src/linux and cp /boot/config-2.4.18-686 to .config
and ran the make-kpkg modules-image which built a couple of .debs for me:
i2c-2.4.18_2.6.3-5+10.00.Custom_i386.deb
lm-sensors-2.4.18_2.6.3-5+10.00.Custom_i386.deb
A dpkg --contents suggests that the custom .debs are going to install into
/lib/modules/2.4.18/misc/ but the kernel-image package installs into
/lib/modules/2.4.18-686/kernel/drivers/i2c
This doesn't seem right and they don't seem to install.
Is there a good guide that gives a newbie a walk through of this process
or did I simply miss something important?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Louis
