i think your post is similar to someone else's recently about
this, be sure your sources.list has this:

deb http://security.debian.org stable/updates main contrib non-free


i think someone else mentioned that the non-us archive used to be
hosted on the same machine as security.debian.org, which is why
that directory "worked" but i guess its not hosted there anymore,
apparently there were never any security "updates" available for
non-US even though the directory was valid it was just accessing
the non-US archive.

see http://www.debian.org/security/ for validation of my sources.list
line.

you should still get non-US updates even though your not specifically
requesting non-US via the sources.list line. e.g. i got the new
ssh 3.3 on potato with my sources.list line, and viewing the package
details lists it as a non-US package
