I ran echo $DISPLAY and it returned nothing. I checked "set" and found no
DISPLAY configuration parameter listed at all. When I installed Debian 2.2,
I distinctly chose settings. Furthermore, X windows starts. What am I
missing and what do I need to do? Or where should I look for help?

[additional efforts]
I did some further research and typed: set DISPLAY <hostname>:0.0; export
DISPLAY
where <hostname> was the hostname of my Deb box--debian2. Yet when I ran
echo $DISPLAY again, I still got nothing and no DISPLAY setting shows when I
type: set. Help.

Thanks!
