you can reset that interval. the cool thing about exim is that it doesn't get 
pissed about the lack of connection and end up interrupting whatever else 
you're doing, and will sit jobs in a queue till the connection exists.

btw, i checked your site and i'm wondering what kind of hardware you're 
working with at the moment. from what i read there, it sounds like you're 
getting the most out of the least. for the exim issues, you might be better 
off going straight to the source (exim.org) for clues on optimal 
configuration for your setup.
