fonts in Star Office (RESOLVED) [kind of]

I posted a problem on this list roghly 1.5 weeks ago about missing
fonts in Star Office. To recap, I am running XF86 4.2.0 compiled from source
on a testing box. Star office was missing many fonts. I was given some advice
to add fonts using spadmin. I tried that with no results.

I have now used the xset fp= command and I now have a reasonable looking set
of fonts. However, I don't understand the following behavior.

If I use

xset fp= /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/:unscaled,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/

Everything looks reasonable.

If I use

xset fp= /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/:unscaled,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/

I go back to many missing fonts.

If I use

xset fp= /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/:unscaled,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/,/usr/local/office52/share/fonts/type1,/usr/local/office52/share/fonts/75dpi

Things again look reasonable.

Any insight would be appreciated.
