Fontmap.GS and fonts.scale after woody dist-upgrade

Hi all!

After a dist-upgrade in woody the gs package was updated from 6.51-7 to 6.53-3.

As a result, the file /usr/share/gs/6.51/Fontmap.GS was deleted and active is now /usr/share/gs/6.53/Fontmap.GS. Similar happend to /var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/TrueType/fonts.scale, which was replaced without making a copy of the former version.

The Problem is, both Fontmap.GS and fonts.scale were customized by the author to support truetype fonts. The question is: How can I make the changes permanetly, so they are not lost after every update? Am i right, these files are dynamically generated now, with no chance to edit manually?

You can see examples of the customizing here:

1) Fontmap.GS

/Arial_BoldMT                           (arialbd.ttf)   ;
/Arial_BoldItalicMT                     (arialbi.ttf)   ;
/Arial_ItalicMT                         (ariali.ttf)    ;
/ArialMT                                (arial.ttf)     ;

-> not in /usr/share/gs/6.53/Fontmap.GS anymore!

2) fonts.scale

now only:
arial.ttf -monotype-arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1

before:
arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso10646-1
arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-koi8-ru
arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-koi8-r

arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-15
arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-10
arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-9
arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-8

arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-6
arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-5
arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-4
arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-3
arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-2
arial.ttf -monotype-Arial-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-microsoft-cp1252
