The comp.lang.* groups are still around and have plenty of
knowledgeable people actively participating.
For Linux C++ stuff, the mailing list
tuxcpprogramming@lists.linux.org.au is good, though it's a little quit
sometimes. I'm not sure if there's a C one as well.
