Mozilla at least doesn't use real names for files, but instead gives all the files in Cache a 8 charachter pseudo-hexadecimal representation(presumably its internal representation is real hecadecimal) with a three charachter extension(all my cache files end in d01) presumably to streamline cache indexing and accessing so needing to clear the cache isn't an issue.
