Isn't snooper designed for man-in-the-middle detection?  That is, you have a device hooked to PC#1 normally.  Then snooper runs on PC#2 and you connect PC#1 to on ttyS* and the device to the other ttyS on PC#2 so you can watch all traffic?

My problem is the connection isn't working in the first place, so there's nothing to snoop.  I can see that chars are getting to the serial device, but the program isn't reading data from /dev/ttyS0.
