Can't get the gameport to work

Hello,

i'm currently trying to get my gamport working. I have a via chipset motherboard with an onboard soundcard (under alsa driven by via686a) and gameport. I'm using a 2.4.17 kernel.

The problem is that i can't install the ns558 kernel module (which i think is needed for this gameport). Here is the output of a modprobe ns558:
isapnp: Scanning for PnP cards...
isapnp: No Plug & Play device found
/lib/modules/2.4.17/kernel/drivers/char/joystick/ns558.o: init_module: No such device Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters /lib/modules/2.4.17/kernel/drivers/char/joystick/ns558.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.17/kernel/drivers/char/joystick/ns558.o failed /lib/modules/2.4.17/kernel/drivers/char/joystick/ns558.o: insmod ns558 failed

My idea was to give a parameter to the ns558 module, which specifies the address of the gameport. As I couldn't find any documentation about accepted parameters for this module, I tried ioport=0x200, iobase=, ... but there was always the response of "no valid argument".

Any ideas?

Daniel
