Crackling Sound
Hi,
I have a Potato 2.2r4 with Alsa 0.5.12 installed an a fm801 soundcard. Im having several problems with my sound. In XMMS, when I use the OSS as my output, I get stuck.. that is - my system freezes and I cannot do anything. The mouse moves but I cannot do anything with it- I cannot open or close anything. I cannot even do a ctrl alt function key so that I can kill xmms. I must wait for the song to finish before I my system functions again, and when the next song starts my sytem freezes again. I was told to use a mixer such as eSound so I used it. I chose eSound as my output. My system did not freeze- but I get on hearing crackling sound.. just like listening to an old turn table. There is also skipping in the sound.. just like banging the turn table. I read the Alsa FAQ and it says commenting some lines in the X configuration. I checked my conf but there is no entry so I dont need to comment it.
Any help or suggestions?
