Don't use dpkg for this sort of thing. Let's run through it with dselect so 
you can see whats going on.

1) Fire up dselect. Go to the select screen.
2) Hit [/] and type libgnome-vfs-common. Hit [Enter]
3) Hit [+] to install it.
4) You'll see a screen come up showing dependancy problems. dselect will have 
marked  libgnome-vfs0 for removal as libgnome-vfs-common replaces it.
5)  Hit [Enter]. You should be back at the main install screen now. Hit 
[Enter] to exit.
6)  Hit [Enter] again to install

Note that I don't have any of these packages installed so YMMV. If dselect 
still insists on removing stuff try placing it on hold ( Hit [=] ).
