Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it didn't work. I've tried several
combinations, as well as symlinks between the two, as well as to
/etc/X11R6/lib/X11/XF86Config  I have also tried XF86Config files
generated from xf86cfg and xf86config. The first just give me a black
screen and x crashes. The second allow me to see the gdm login panel, but
when I try to login to gnome or kde just give me a large black square
which is the mouse curser then crash back to the gdm menu (with the voodoo
card). With the radeon card, I can't even get the gdm panel or use xf86cfg
