what is xconsole.real?

I just upgraded to Woody from Potato and I have noticed that there is a
symlink in /etc/alternatives which seems to point nowhere.

dpkg seems to have created this link:
root:~# ls -al /etc/alternatives/xconsole
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 28 Mar 2 23:35
/etc/alternatives/xconsole -> /usr/X11R6/bin/xconsole.real

But the file does not exist:
root:~# ls -al /usr/X11R6/bin/xconsole.real
ls: /usr/X11R6/bin/xconsole.real: No such file or directory

So I tried running update-alternatives:
root:~# update-alternatives --config xconsole

There are 0 programs which provide `xconsole'.

  Selection Command
-----------------------------------------------

Enter to keep the default[*], or type selection number:

What gives here?
How do I fix it?
There is a file called: /usr/X11R6/bin/xconsole
Should I symlink /etc/alternatives/xconsole to it manually?

Cheers.
Mark.
