Ugly Fonts

Hi all,

My XF86Config says:

FontPath        "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/"
FontPath        "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled"
FontPath        "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled"
FontPath        "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled"
FontPath        "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/"
FontPath        "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/"
FontPath        "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/"
FontPath        "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/"
FontPath        "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/"

And if I do ls /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts I get:


patrick@phasar:~$ ls /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts
100dpi  75dpi  Speedo  TrueType  Type1  encodings  misc  util

Yet galeon and Evolution use horrible jagged fonts.

Is ther a way to set the default font for all applications and all
users?  I don;t really mind if I have to do it app by app but I don't
really want to have to go through it again for the wife and others who
login to this workstation.

If it helps my desktop environment is xfce but the kids use Gnome.
