superformat not using /etc/driveprm

Whenever I 'superformat' a diskette, I always see this:

    Measuring drive 0's raw capacity
In order to avoid this time consuming measurement in the future,
add the following line to /etc/driveprm:
    drive0: deviation=-640

Right, I did that... but it still keeps trying to measure! Anyone know
how to correct this?

While we're on the topic, does that value ever change over the life of
the drive? Is it necessary to occasionally remeasure it?

Thx,

Jeff Bonner
