| I figured it out! You need to set the gpm repeater to raw mode. This is
| configured through /usr/sbin/gpmconfig.
(or '$EDITOR /etc/gpm.conf')
That is 1/3 of the solution.

Set protocol to "IMPS/2" in X.
Set protocol to "imps2" in gpm.
