No, but it does mean lo (opposed to eth0) is working correctly.  If you
can ping your gateway, *then* your NIC is working correctly.

This is what you need to do. Add an interface eth0 using ifconfig.
Use route to set the gateway, netmask.
In order to do that you will have to read the manuals for ifconfig and route.
If you have conflicting irq's play with the bios. It's quite simple, just
allocate 30mins, to man pages and you'll be up and running.
