Where is my "tilde" ?

Hello List

After latest sid update (yesterday), I remarked that I cannot access the
"tilde" symbol in xterms and other programs under X any more. I am using a
german keyboard layout, and I usually get the tilde hile pressing AltGr +
ClosingSquareBracket on american keyboard (Just left of the enter key...).
This is what I get from xev when pressing those keys:

KeyPress event, serial 27, synthetic NO, window 0xe00001,
    root 0x57, subw 0x0, time 3086372205, (-248,-529), root:(542,111),
    state 0x0, keycode 113 (keysym 0xff7e, Mode_switch), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 characters: ""

KeyPress event, serial 27, synthetic NO, window 0xe00001,
    root 0x57, subw 0x0, time 3086372391, (-248,-529), root:(542,111),
    state 0x2000, keycode 35 (keysym 0xfe53, dead_tilde), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 1 characters: "~"

KeyRelease event, serial 27, synthetic NO, window 0xe00001,
    root 0x57, subw 0x0, time 3086372462, (-248,-529), root:(542,111),
    state 0x2000, keycode 35 (keysym 0xfe53, dead_tilde), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 1 characters: "~"

KeyRelease event, serial 27, synthetic NO, window 0xe00001,
    root 0x57, subw 0x0, time 3086372765, (-248,-529), root:(542,111),
    state 0x2000, keycode 113 (keysym 0xff7e, Mode_switch), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 characters: ""

I assume that X knows there should appear a tilde sign, but it just doesn't.

Oooops - while writing this, I found out, that I get it when pressing "space"
after the key combination, but that's not the usual behavior, right?
So, how can I get it back?

Thanks

joerg
