What the! Now localhost doesn't resolve.

I don't know what I just did but now all my mail is being bounced by
postfix. Here is part of my logs:
Nov 29 15:12:38 beast postfix/smtp[576]: 236DB1901C:
to=<mdevin@localhost>, relay=none, delay=0, status=bounced (Name
service error for domain localhost: Host not found)

host localhost --> gives this response:
localhost.home does not exist (Authoritative answer)

What the!
Here is my /etc/hosts file:
----------------------------
127.0.0.1       beast.home localhost.home localhost
192.168.0.1     beast.home
192.168.0.2     flea.home
192.168.0.3     humpty.home
----------------------------
Here is my /etc/host.conf file:
----------------------------
order hosts,bind
multi on
----------------------------

Here is my /etc/hostname file:
----------------------------
beast.home
----------------------------

I just ran #hostname --file /etc/hostname

# hostname --> gives this response
beast.home
# hostname -d  --> gives this response
home

but yet host localhost still gives:
localhost.home does not exist (Authoritative answer)

What have I done? How do I fix it? I am in desperated need of help.

Thanks.
Mark.
