When using kernel 2.2.x, mpg123, for example, will play a mp3 file at a higher rate than the normal, i.e., it will sound "faster". When using kernel 2.4.x, it won't even play the file, complaining about "not finding any supported rates". Does anyone have some experience with this chipset?

Greetings

Some of the 2.4.* kernels have a bug in downsampling.
2.4.3 works for me. 2.4.6 / 2.4.9 gave me the same problems you report.
So I would recommend using the latest version like Peter De Wachter
suggested or if stablity is a problem use 2.4.3.
