Hmm, the log messages are coming up on the console, but not
showing up in the syslog, kern.log or messages log files?
syslog may not be running at all, or is misconfigured. Check to
make sure other log messages are getting to these files, to
confirm syslog is running properly...and make sure the process is
running too.
