Re: Virus in win boot sector

this is what the f-secure site says about the chipaway virus:
F-Secure Virus Descriptions

                         NAME:
                              Chipaway

There is no virus known by this name to
                        F-Secure anti-virus products. However, this
'virus' is sometimes reported, because there is
a specific ROM BIOS with anti-virus
features, which displays text "Chipaway Virus
                        Enabled" during boot-up.

I vaguely remember a motherboard I had, that with the bios setting to
turn on virus checking, a message appeared at bootup regarding the
message you may be recieving.

I searched this & discovered the wording of the message was missleading.
It didn't really discover a virus.  Just that the virus checking option
was active.  Harmless.

But then, I'm no guruu either (can't even spell it)
