Re: modconf not working, net module 3c59x can't be loaded. any help?

  OK so leave it there (I was wrong telling you that it's compiled into kernel,
  it's not possible 'cause you have the pre-built kernel from installation 
  and if you choosed the module  3c59x it was compiled as module not into kernel )

yes it's ok
try also 'ifconfig'  (information about network interfaces)

so you are probably on some LAN ... install package 'dhcp' and it should do all
 work for you (recognizing of DNS....)
and then it should work (i thing don't beat me if not :) )
