WHOIS Can't Access RIPE's RPSL Format

Running the latest whois from stable (Version 4.4.13), I needed a WHOIS
lookup as follows:

    whois -h whois.ripe.net 213.107.39.235

But, no results are forthcoming except I get a notification from RIPE
their format has changed[1] somewhere around 4/2001. Specifically,

RE: <http://www.ripe.net/ripencc/pub-services/db/rpsl/announcement.html>
|    Accordingly, the transition to RPSL will now follow the outlined
|    dates:
|      * 23 April, 2001: switching to the RPSL database
|        *** now completed ***
|           + All objects are automatically converted to RPSL format
|           + Queries return RPSL only

Are the testing/unstable WHOIS versions able to access this format?
