I don't understand what you're using to start your browser.  What's
querybts?

Console programs generally need to be run in a terminal, e.g.:

    export X11BROWSER='rxvt -T w3m -e w3m'

My own current preference is to use screen to allow multiplexing the
text browser session:

    ( export SHELL=w3m; rxvt -T w3m -e screen w3m )

...and as you might guess, I happen to like the w3m text-mode browser,
though it's largely similar to links.
