kernel 2.4.12/2.4.13 + devfs + xterm doesnt work...

this is my setup:

2.4.12/2.4.13
devfs
XF4.1.0-6 or XF4.1.0-7

i noticed that when i run xterm (using either kernel) it hangs along
with X, so i ctrl-alt-bckspce, doesnt return my prompt,ctrl-alt-del,
then it hangs again so i press the reset button. But eterm and rxvt runs
fine though.. it seems that it doesn't register a ttyp* on /dev but eterm/rxvt does..

any workaround? kernels < 2.4.9 works fine though....
