I just didn't mention it. (I reordered these replies to put them in top-down order) This doesn't add up. If you've put a 1 in ip_forward, catting it should give you back a 1, not a 0. A clean way to make this happen every time networking is enabled is to open up /etc/network/options and make sure you have a line that says "ip_forward=yes" .
