3Com cards are overpriced. I have used various NE2k, Tulip, and
RTL8139 cards with no problems at all. More specifically : Netgear
EA-211 (ISA NE2k clone) , Linksys LNE-100TX (Rev2.0 and Rev4.1 both
tulip chip) , D-Link DFE-530TX+, and some no-name brand of rtl8139
card. This particular laptop (employer's) has a 3Com PCMCIA card that
uses the Vortex (3c59x) driver. The only problem I have is if I close
the top -- I have to reinsert the card and reset the interface.
