What you've got?
It needs atleast 2.2.19 kernel and you have to enable codec97
and vt82cxxxx drivers on your kernel with modconf.
Won't work with 2.2.17 for example. I know, I have
the chip. You may also need to reboot, atleast I didn't
get the soundcard to work until rebooted.
