DHCP problems with cable modem
Hi. I just installed Debian last night on my system,
and everything works great except the network. I have
a cable modem, and the DHCP server requires that I
send in my hostname with my request. So far, I have
tried (and failed at using):
1) using pump to explicitly define my hostname
2) using dhcpcd to define my hostname
3) automatic configuration with dbootstrap
I had problems with this before in Linux (I previously
used suse, but switched for moral and ethical reasons,
plus they have been getting shady lately), but the
command dhcpcd -h XXXXXXXXX eth0 (where
XXXXXXXXX is my hostname) seemed to fix it. Please,
if anybody has any idea how this problem could be
solved I would be very appreciative. Thanks!!!!
