I have an Abit BE6 motherboard with a Celeron 300A

a way that I could install debian and have it automatically
recognize all four ide channels. I was able to install it
and have it recognize the first two channels but I'm not
sure how to get the other two channels (and the hard drives
attached to them).

I'm still new to this so the more detailed the instructions
the better.

If you need any more information please tell me.

thx,

i'v got a bp6 at home and there is a be6 sitting

near my desk as far as i am aware they are pretty
much the same in the hdd respect

the udma66 channels need to have support compiled

into the kernel (2.4, don't know about 2.2)

just need to build in support for the

htp366 chip set (should say in the manual otherwise)

then they should be available on

/dev/hde
to
/dev/hdh

Has the bios been updated from the orginal ?
I don't normaly recomend unless it is absolutly needed,
but i found i had to, to get a 46gb(udma66) drive to work happly.
