Hi, I try since many days to let my Ethernet card work and I have some problems. Here my configuration : OS : Linux 2.2.18 (Distribution Progeny, version 1) Windows 98 Dual Boot using GRUB Card : D-Link DFE-530TX Rev. A. Module : via-rhine.o Here the command with the associated errors : myHost:~/via-rhine# modprobe -d -v via-rhine ============================================= Module via-rhine kname via-rhine objkey via-rhine names: via-rhine mode: NORMAL Module matching via-rhine: /lib/modules/2.2.18/net/via-rhine.o ============================================= /sbin/insmod /lib/modules/2.2.18/net/via-rhine.o Using /lib/modules/2.2.18/net/via-rhine.o Symbol version prefix '2gig_' /lib/modules/2.2.18/net/via-rhine.o: init_module: Device or resource busy Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters /lib/modules/2.2.18/net/via-rhine.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.18/net/via-rhine.o failed /lib/modules/2.2.18/net/via-rhine.o: insmod via-rhine failed On the site http://www.scyld.com/network/ethercard.html it is specified that THIS driver is to be used with this sort of card. I tried to load the module rtl8139, what didn't help. I donwloaded the new version of via-rhine and compiled it. myHost:~/via-rhine# gcc -DMODULE -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O6 -c via-rhine.c /tmp/cc4wVgN8.s: Assembler messages: /tmp/cc4wVgN8.s:65: Warning: Ignoring changed section attributes for .modinfo The driver via-rhine needs pci-scan. I tried to compile pci-scan and got the following error : myHost:~/via-rhine# gcc -DMODULE -D__KERNEL__ -DEXPORT_SYMTAB -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O6 -c pci-scan.c In file included from pci-scan.c:53: /usr/include/linux/module.h:21: linux/modversions.h: No such file or directory The file modversions.h can not be found. Somebody brought the same problem in this mailing list. What do I have to do/check/download/compile/install/... to let this Ethernet Card work ??????? W hat about PCI configuration or IRQ configuration via BIOS ? The card works correctly under Windows 98. Thank you for your help. Jean-Claude
