One more thing. /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file contained :
VideoRam 8192
I changed 8192 to 16384 and this has actual been responsible for dri
working on my i810 now :-)

If you have recode package installed you may use the following
alias in your .profile or /etc/profile:
alias unix2dos='recode lat1..ibmpc'
alias dos2unix='recode ibmpc..lat1'
