Re: gnome is gone!
okay here's what i did:
dpkg -i libdb3_3.2.9-11_i386.deb
{errors}
dpkg -i libdb3++-dev_3.29-11_i386.deb
{needs libdb3_3.2.9-11_i386.deb installed, so i figure out how to do that:}
dpkg -i --auto-deconfigure libdb3_3.3.9-11_i386.deb
{works fine}
dpkg -i libdb3++-dev_3.29-11_i386.deb
{works}
dpkg -i libdb-dev_3.2.9-11_i386.deb
{works}
startx (i'm using ICEwm-gnome so it won't start if gnome doesn't work)
(it doesn't start... rather, xdm starts but then shutsdown)
{icewm-gnome:error while loading shared libraries:libdb.so.3:cannot open
shared object file:no such file or directory}
whaaat? i thought that this 'libdb.so.3' was in libdb3... do i need some
other version of libdb3 such as the testing version? just to make sure i ran
'dpkg -i libdb3_3.2.9-11_i386.deb' again (didn't need the --auto-deconfigure
b/c it was already installed)
and startx, with the same results.
so once again: i'm still confused and need any help i can get, thanks
