Thanks for the idea. I ran make-kpkg binary from an xterm (which I
usually don't) and I located the problem. It was erroring out on making
the modules for MTD's; I disabled that and everything worked OK. I do
not know if this is a bug in Debian or the 2.4.7 kernel as I did not
have this problem in 2.4.5 but I also recently switched to testing. So
if any of you Debian developers are following this amybe you can shed
some light.
