I can't think of a PCI NIC that needs extra parameters unless you want
to force it to do something "unusual" (i.e. work only in the 10 Mbs
mode, etc).  As I said in  a previous message, I have 5 of these cards
here all working fine.  One thing I have experienced is that they are
EXTREMELY sensitive to the BIOS setting for the type of OS installed.  I
will reliably get this message if I have entered that I have a PnP OS.

I would suggest you go into your computer's BIOS settings and make sure
that the "PnP OS" setting is set to either "no", "off", or "other".  The
various makes of BIOS have the wording on this different, and you will
probably have to search around for this question, but it "should" be
there in some form.  On my AWARD BIOS I have here, the setting is in the
"PCI/PnP" section.

Once you have made the change, try the install again.  The "stock"
modules work fine for me.  No need to compile anything...
