I used Ximian for a while and it's great most of the time but IMHO it's
not worth installing.  Here's why:

1. Their packaging sucks.  They simply don't create good .debs so your
system ends up breaking whenever you upgrade.

2. The Debian packages for Gnome are really good.  You need to know a
bit about what packages you need and a few things are missing, but all
in all the stability outweighs any of the niceties that Ximian provides.
