As of 30 April 2001 the MAPS entries ceased to be officially sanctioned.
They have been superseded by mail-abuse.org entries, like so:
# 'rbl.maps.vix.com', ## Deprecated, decomissioned as of 2001/04/30
'blackholes.mail-abuse.org',
# 'dul.maps.vix.com', ## Deprecated, decomissioned as of 2001/04/30
'dialups.mail-abuse.org',
'relays.mail-abuse.org',

I don't understand how that would be so, if I understand your dilemma
correctly that is. It might be preventing you from bouncing some UCE. =)
