1. read any book by O'Reilly & Assoc.

2. get shell access from a buddy and jump in head first, you won't have to
throw ALL of your conceptual knowledge away gained from M$ training.

OR

3. download an open source OS (i'd suggest DEBIAN or FREEBSD) and jump in
head first.
