Run to the shop. Buy a big harddisk. Put it in another machine
on your network. Do not turn off the computer with the suspect
harddisk. It (the disk) may not come up again ever. Now copy
the entire harddisk over the network to the new harddisk. If
you're sufficiently paranoid, you might save some individual very
important files first.
