I am a Linux System Administartor at a medical center.

Thats a hard question and depends on tne enterpise where you want to start
your career... Generally: You don't need a big knoledge about C but it
wouldn't be bad if you "know" the language and the generally system it
interduces. System administartor turns more around Accounts, Permissions,
Remote Actions and so on... Of Course at UNIX based systems BASH is very
important and also PERL.
I am programming in C and C++ and i think that this helps me to understand
very complex system procedures.... it makes me thinking more mathematicaly.
You have to find out by yourself.... BUT: If you wont learn C beacuse it
douesn't interrest you then you really shouldn't do because the learning
effect would be very low.

I hope i helped you.

cheers,
Raffaele
