Place the appropriate lines in - /etc/network/interfaces
and run -
# /etc/init.d/networking restart
Using you're settings the file should have the following format -
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.10.7
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.10.0
broadcast 192.168.10.255
gateway 192.168.10.1
See - man interfaces for more. If you get errors post them to the list.
