make-kpkg broken ?

Hi all,

I don't know if something is broken due to kernel-panic with 2.4.3ac14
within a debian-upgrade via dselect. (2.4.3ac14 seems to crash
reproducable during an debian-upgrade, this gives a lot of files in
lost&found :-() Now 2.4.5ac7 is running. Will see if this one is
better:-)

make-kpkg works for the kernel_image but not for the modules (alsa
specifically). The modules build and i can install manually but no
*.deb-file
I have reinstalled the kernel-package but with no success. This is
debian/unstable up-to-date.

maybe make-kpkg is broken because it dosn't generate the
alsa-modules.deb file anymore. Following you see the error-output from
make-kpkg modules_image:

make: [stamp-configure] Error 1 (ignored)
dpkg-gencontrol: warning: unknown substitution variable ${kvers}
dpkg-gencontrol: warning: unknown substitution variable ${kversdeb}
dpkg-gencontrol: warning: unknown substitution variable ${kvers}
dpkg-deb: parse error, in file `debian/tmp/DEBIAN/control' near line 7
package `alsa-modules-0.5-2.4.5-ac7':
 `Recommends' field, reference to `kernel-image-': error in version:
version string is empty
dh_builddeb: command returned error code
make[2]: *** [binary-modules] Error 1
make[1]: *** [kdist_image] Error 2
/bin/sh: ./debian/rules: No such file or directory

Need some help here
