I've only ever had something similar happen when my modules.conf was empty. It existed, mind you, but it was empty. As soon as I deleted my modules.conf file, depmod -a generated the dependencies properly. Mind you, it was on a RedHat 5.1 system, not Debian. Not sure if that helps or not. Mike -- Michael P.
