Hi, I just posted this because I thought it might be useful to someone. I have found that alsa-source 0.9+0beta4-2 doesn't work with the version of libesd-alsa0 found in unstable. However if you recompile from the sources it does work. You probably also need to install libasound2 I.e. apt-get -b source esound and then install the newly compiled packages. This is also the first version of Alsa that is usable with my ESS Solo-1 soundcard. Iain.
