Thanks Bentley,

I'm not quite that brave to try 2.4.x kernel yet and I'm sure it works
much better as well. It might be that my USB is a bit weird as the
machine had USB when USB was not that common. The mouse could be weird
too as it is not known to be supported from the site you mentioned
above. The site above is very good as that is how I got this far.
