galeon: forced dependencies -> "unmet" in apt-get

Some of you may have noted I'd installed galeon by forcing dependencies
yesterday. Today the hens come home to roost: galeon is identified as
having unmet deps when doing an apt-get dist-upgrade, and an "apt-get -f
install" (the solution recommended by apt-get) prompts to remove galeon:

    root@ego:/root]$ apt-get dist-upgrade
    Reading Package Lists... Done
    Building Dependency Tree... Done
    You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these.
    Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
      galeon: Depends: gdk-imlib1 (>= 1.9.10-3) but 1.9.8.1-2 is installed
	      Depends: libart2 (>= 1.2.13-5) but 1.2.13-4 is installed
	      Depends: libgnome32 (>= 1.2.13-5) but 1.2.13-4 is installed
	      Depends: libgnomesupport0 (>= 1.2.13-5) but 1.2.13-4 is installed
	      Depends: libgnomeui32 (>= 1.2.13-5) but 1.2.13-4 is installed
	      Depends: libgnorba27 (>= 1.2.13-5) but 1.2.13-4 is installed
    E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.
    [root@ego:/root]$

Suggested fix? I'd like to both hold on to galeon (I'm in love) _and_
be able to update my system.

Is it possible to directly edit the dependencies information? If so,
where -- /var/lib/dpkg/status?

TIA.
